SRH says Emap not interested in making takeover bid

LONDON - Scottish Radio Holdings has said that Emap has no intention of making a takeover bid after it bought a 27.8% stake in the company for £90.5m.

Shares in SRH were trading up by 6% this morning at 958p after Emap bought the shares on Friday from Scottish Media Group.

SRH, owner of radio stations such as Clyde FM, Vibe FM and Moray Firth Radio, said in a statement: "Emap has no intention of making or participating in an offer for the outstanding shares in SRH."

The company went on to say that it was disappointed that Scottish Media Group had ignored its offer to assist in placing the shares. "Nonetheless we look forward to a more constructive and mutually beneficial relationship with Emap," it said in the statement.

Emap has vast radio assets, including Kiss FM, Magic FM and a network of digital stations based on magazine titles such as Kerrang! and Smash Hits. Chief executive of the radio division, Tim Schoonmaker, left last week in a shock move.

In a statement SRH said it was looking forward to good prospects during the course of this year.
