Shares in the company, whose assets include the radio station Wave FM and the newspaper Stornoway Gazette, leapt by 4% on the news, trading mid-morning at 840p, a rise of 32p.
Scottish Radio Holdings said that turnover at the radio group was up by 19% from continuing operations. It described revenues at local radio stations as robust, and said that there had also been an improvement in national advertising of 9%. Revenues from sponsorship and promotions were up by 8%.
Press revenues rose by 17% for the year ending September 30. SRH owns an extensive network of local newspapers in Scotland and Northern Ireland, as well as in the Republic of Ireland. Advertising revenue across the newspapers was up by 5% for the year, and profits rose by 30% to £9.6m.
Lord Strathblane, chairman of the company, said: "SRH is well placed for continued growth with its portfolio of radio stations in recognised geographical marketing areas and well-established press titles. The new financial year has started well, with group revenues from continuing operations 11% ahead of the same period last year."
