Sport magazine reveals plans for UK rollout

LONDON - Sport, the free weekly magazine given away across London's commuter belt on Friday mornings, has revealed plans to expand across the UK, after posting an ABC figure of more than 300,000.

The , which launched six months ago and is published by Sport Media & Strategy, is currently distributed on Friday mornings outside 94 London Underground stations, 20 train stations and 333 gyms by an army of vendors.

Sport's publishers said the magazine, which has posted an ABC figure of 316,602, plans to build on its strong performance, and has discussed the possibility of launching editions outside of London, with Manchester being tipped as a possibility for its first roll out into major cities.

According to research conducted by National Readership Survey, 80% of Sport's readership falls into the ABC1 category.

Sport, which first launched in France in 2004, arrived in London on September 29 last year, and has featured a number of high profile cover stars, including England midfielders Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard, tennis player Maria Sharapova, and boxer Amir Khan.
