Sport Magazine claims first for free title with gatefold cover

LONDON - Sport Magazine is claiming to be the first free title to run a gatefold, in a deal brokered by Walker Media for its client Barclaycard.

The six-page gatefold, appearing tomorrow, is to be printed on high-quality glossy finish paper at the front of the weekly magazine. It ties in with the current contactless payment card promotion that Barclaycard is running on television, outdoor and other media.

This week's issue, a winter ski special, is the biggest to date for the magazine, which will shortly celebrate its 100th issue.

Greg Miall, managing director of Sport Magazine, said: "Sport continues to lead the way in creative innovation in the free-press sector. We are delighted to be able to offer brands like Barclaycard unique solutions to target the hard to reach ABC1 male audience."

Sport Magazine is given out at Tube stations in London, in gyms and health clubs in the South East, and to business class passengers on British Airways and BMI.
