The optician brand currently handles all of its customer relationship management work in-house. It is understood that Specsavers is considering appointing its first external CRM agency.

The review does not affect Specsavers’ in-house advertising team, which creates the brand’s long-running "should have gone to Specsavers" work.

Specsavers appointed Manning Gottlieb OMD to its £39 million national and regional media planning and buying account in 2012 after a final shootout against the national incumbent, MEC.

Prior to 2012, MEC had handled the national planning and buying and MediaCom had worked on Specsavers’ regional media.

A spokeswoman for Specsavers declined to comment.
