
The two-day festival will be held at The Beach London, a temporary beach which has been created with 7,500sqm of sand on Greenwich Peninsula. It is part of this summer’s Peninsula Festival, whose organisers created the beach.
Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra will headline the first night concert on Friday 21 July, with support from Rueben Richards and his Soul Train, Marc Almond and Ruby Turner.
There will be open mic jam sessions on the Saturday afternoon and Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings will headline the stage on Saturday evening.
Organisers say the festival will become an annual event. Frank Dekker, festival director, said: "London has been crying out for its own dedicated soul and blues festival. Our vision is to establish the festival as one of the most well known and respected in the world attracting the very top artists from across the globe.
"We really want to offer a festival where fans can be part of the music and are especially looking forward to the open mic jam sessions on Saturday afternoon, which some of our artists will support."
The Beach London is Europe’s largest man made beach and will feature palm trees, beach bars and a projection dome. It is licensed to remain in its Greenwich location until 2017.
