The festival will now take place at Area 12, a fenced outdoor area on Greenwich Peninsula. It will keep the same artists and date of 4 August and existing tickets will still be valid at the new location.

In a statement, the Eastern Electrics organisers said: "Eastern Electrics Festival was thrilled to discover about Area 12 through some friendly venue operators as it met with the demand from our core audience to put on the festival a little closer to its traditional East London heartlands without any compromise in our programme of next generation acts and brands.
"The space is a fenced outdoor area, which will be transformed into London's latest, innovative festival site. Area 12 is the last undeveloped site on the Greenwich Peninsula, an area made famous by the O2 Complex and the new Emirates Cable Car, which will transport people across the Thames from the Autumn of 2012."
Eastern Electrics was launched in 2008 by club promoters Will Paterson and Rob Star, who ran three events a year under the brand before putting on its first festival.
Patterson said the move to a festival was inevitable. "From our first meeting in January 2008 we always wanted to make the transition to a festival format. We’d each been promoting our own shows for more than 10 years, and were determined to progress to a larger event. But we explicitly wanted to grow as a brand and develop a relationship with our fanbase and with acts and labels before we made the move."
Eastern Electrics has collaborated with artistes such as Laurent Garnier, Maya Jane Coles, Anja Schneider and Virgo Four.
