Sony is the second brand to launch a Google TV line after Logitech unveiled its Revue TV last week. The Sony Internet TV, unlike the Revue, has HD capabilities, with a built-in Blu-ray disc player.

The four products in the line are built on the Google Android platform, run the Google Chrome browser and include an Intel Atom processor to power the internet.

They also have a dual-view feature, which allows viewers to use the internet while watching television. The models have Sony’s streaming service "Video on demand powered by Qriocity" as well as pre-installed .

Prices start at $599.99, compared to $300 for the Logitech model.

Bob Ishida, senior vice-president, corporate executive, and president of Home Entertainment Business Group, Sony Corporation said: "Sony Internet TV creates value by introducing new and compelling ways to enjoy a variety of content."

Google has not confirmed when it will be launching its TV service in the UK, but it will not be before 2011.

Google TV will offer marketers a vast amount of data and will deliver opportunities for highly targeted ads when it launches in the UK, according to industry experts.
