Sony creates dedicated brand for business notebook PCs

LONDON – Sony Electronics has launched its new range of business notebooks to the trade and users under a new brand identity Vaio Professional, created by Gyro International.

Gyro was handed the branding and launch advertising task after winning a competitive pitch earlier this year. It also works for Sony's computer storage division Turbo.

Small and medium-sized businesses are being targeted with press and online ads, and the range has been marketed to Sony's distribution partners. A direct marketing campaign may follow later.

Matt Price, product manager at Sony UK, said: "Gyro has very effectively matched our brief, which was to communicate the real value that Sony's Vaio Professional notebooks deliver to users. The campaign achieves strong cut-through in a category where media executions are dominated by specifications and low-price messages."

The new products include built-in videoconferencing cameras, fingerprint readers and Sony's X-Black screen technology.
