People buying Sony computers in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain will find the Yahoo! services already installed when they boot them up for the first time. Yahoo! hopes that it will introduce its products to millions of people using Sony Vaio computers.
There is growing competition between the ISPs offering services such as Messenger, and marketers are increasingly using such services to push their brands online.
MSN Messenger has done deals recently with brands such as MTV and Nike to introduce branded features to its service.
Matthias Schmidt-Pfitzner, head of distribution and affiliates at Yahoo! Europe, said: "By enabling immediate access to the excitement and convenience of Yahoo! services, many more consumers will join the 325m Yahoo! users worldwide already enjoying Yahoo!'s compelling and rewarding range of services."
