Social bookmarking on the go: Digg builds mobile app

LONDON - Social bookmarking is set to become easier and more portable with the launch of an app version of Digg.

At present, although Digg offers a basic mobile version of its website there is no efficient service for social bookmarking using a smart phone, raising hopes that a Digg app would remedy the problem.

News of the Digg app was in London at a technology over the weekend.

The enables members to share news and content they like via a Digg account. It also allows members to build a network of friends and share links via Facebook.

Digg members can submit links and stories, and then vote and comment on the submitted content.

Voting stories up and down is the site's core function, aka digging and burying. Users submit thousands of stories every day, but only the most Dugg stories appear on the front page.
