The service, formerly Sky by Broadband, offers Sky customers on-demand access to Sky Movies, Sky One entertainment and documentary series and Sky Sports to watch on their PC or laptop whenever they want. The one-year anniversary was on January 14 and the Jodie Foster film 'Flight Plan' was the one millionth movie download.
Celebrating its first anniversary, and now with more than a quarter of a million registered users, Sky is offering a growing archive of more than 300 films, including a mix of current blockbusters and classics. 'House of Flying Daggers' was the most downloaded film on the service.
Movies cost £3.95 to download and viewers are able to keep pay-per-view content on their PCs for seven days with unlimited plays for 48 hours after the first viewing. Anytime is part of Sky's multi-platform on-demand offering, which encompasses Sky Anytime on Mobile and a new service that will soon give customers with more recent Sky+ boxes the chance to watch a selection of the week's best programmes on-demand.
Dawn Airey, BSkyB's managing director of channels and services, said: "We're delighted that customers have taken to Anytime with such enthusiasm. Sky Movies is the UK's most popular movie service and we're able to use broadband to give customers more flexibility in how they watch. The fact that in this first year we've already seen 1m movie downloads is testament to customers' willingness to embrace new technologies and get more from Sky."
