Sky to offer TV travel booking

LONDON - Holiday makers will soon be able to book flights on their TVs with a new travel service, supported by the major holiday groups, set to launch on BSkyB's digital travel channel Sky Travel.

From April, the 5m subscribers to Sky Travel will be able to arrange a vacation, including flights, insurance and car hire, by pressing the buttons on their remote control. Package holidays and last-minute offers will be available soon afterwards.

The scheme is being supported by UK travel agents The First Resort, Thomson Travel Group and Centrica. Sky Travel will augment its current service with three extra hours of shopping programming every day.
