Simonseeks takes top prize at The Good Web Guide awards

LONDON - Simonseeks.com, which collects travel reviews written by the public, has won Website of the Year at The Good Web Guide's inaugural awards.

The , which launched four months ago, combines user-generated content, money-saving tips and a choice of booking options.

One standout feature is that the writer is given a share of the revenue generated from people viewing the guide. It claims to hold around 2,000 guides written by celebrities, professionals and amateur travellers.

The Good Web Guide is an online resource promoting what it describes as the 5,000 best sites across a range of lifestyle and consumer areas.

The awards attracted more than 1,000 entries, which the company reduced to a shortlist of 25 for the judges.

Sites were judged on design, originality, content and ease of use by a panel including Emma Jones founder of , Shaa Wasmund founder of and Liane Dietrich managing director of .

Judge Yanique Francis-Yalin senior web analyst of price comparison site Twenga, said of Simonseeks.com: "I especially like the way the user content is organised and that there are standards to ensure good quality content."

Runners-up included , a crowd sourced database of past and upcoming gigs.
