'Sicko' promoted via free music download site We7

LONDON – Michael Moore's documentary on the state of the US healthcare system is being promoted via audio clips on ad-funded free music download service We7 in a deal signed by Target Media.

The partnership will see 'Sicko' promoted via a short audio segment attached to the front of music tracks and albums that customers can download on as well as with banners and skyscrapers.

The We7 website is currently set to allow customers to access, download and preview free and legal digital music files and Target Media is We7's first advertising partner.

The short audio ads promoting the film will be attached to the front of particular music tracks chosen on the basis of customer demographics such as location, age and gender.

Vanessa Vakirtzi, the digital account manager at Target Media, said: ''To be the first advertiser using this innovative ad-funded music delivery model is a fantastic opportunity for us and our client Optimum to reach our target audience.

"In an increasingly dynamic digital sector this media first allows us to seamlessly integrate two very culturally significant brands in order to deliver Michael Moore's message to the relevant cinema-going audience.''

The joint campaign will run for six weeks. The film is set to be released on October 26.

Moore's documentary film is about the dire state of the US healthcare system and highlights the fact at as many as 50m Americans do not have healthcare insurance.

Steve Purdham, We&'s CEO, added: ''We7 offers a platform to entertain and engage, benefiting both the customer and the advertiser. After only a short time we are seeing significant interest from the advertising community to our new innovative model and we expect to make more announcements of We7 adoption in the coming weeks.''
