Although Showsec has worked with the conference and exhibitions centre previously, it is the first time the companies have agreed a long-term contract. The security firm said the deal will allow it to plan ahead and develop its services.
This is the third large contract Showsec has signed this year, having inked deals with T in the Park festival in March and Wembley Arena in February.
Julian Kumah, Showsec’s area manager for Yorkshire, said: "The conference and exhibition marketplace has been identified as a key area of development for the company, so to be presented with an opportunity like this is a major boost in that respect."
He added Showsec plans to employ more local staff in order to build closer links with the venue.
Robert Penfold, HIC’s venue services manager, said: "What Showsec is bringing to us is a pool of highly-trained staff who are well-established in the Yorkshire region.
"They are experienced in the many kinds of events we hold here at HIC, so this will ensure our clients get the best levels of service and security possible."
