Sheryl Crow and Dell link up for US TV campaign

NEW YORK - Country rock singer Sheryl Crow is to appear in a US ad campaign for computer brand Dell, in a tie-in promoting her new single.

Crow rose to fame in the late 1990s with a series of radio-friendly singles including 'All I Wanna Do' and 'Every Day is a Winding Road'. In 2003, she opposed the US-led invasion of Iraq, explaining her reasons on her website, which led to her fans having a bust-up on the messageboards.

However, Dell still wanted her endorsement and she is to star in TV ads focusing on its home entertainment offering, which consists of Media Centre PCs and plasma screens. The campaign will develop through print, online, inserts and direct mail catalogues.

A clip from Crow's new single, 'Good is Good', will be available on Dell's before its planned August release.

Michael Farello, vice-president of electronics and accessories at Dell, said: "Partnering with Sheryl will help us create additional awareness with consumers so they can easily enjoy digital music, photos, videos and games with Dell's portfolio of entertainment products."

Crow said that she could not think of a better partner for connecting fans, music and home entertainment than Dell.

"Technology has helped me with the writing and recording processes, and it's a great way to reach out to fans of my music," she said.
