Shelter pushes Christmas donations with house bling website

LONDON - Housing charity Shelter is letting homeowners give their house a blinging Christmas makeover in a new website using imagery from the Google Street View service.

The to enter their postcode and find their property on Google Street View.

They then have a variety of garish Christmas lights and decorations with which to festoon their houses, in a bid to create one of the blinging displays that draw locals from miles around at this time of year.

The campaign has a serious side, tying in with the 'Big Build Up To Christmas' push by Shelter, which campaigns on issues of homelessness and decent housing.

The charity is aiming to raise £1.2m in the run up to Christmas, and is asking people to make a one off donation, explaining the story of one family who will spend this Christmas in a safe, permanent home thanks to Shelter.
