Shelter launches 'House of Cards' ad with Radiohead track

LONDON - Shelter has launched a campaign called 'House of Cards' to raise awareness of the fragility of the UK housing situation. It will highlight the plight of people pushed to breaking point by high housing costs, those trapped in bad housing and homelessness.

The campaign, which has been created by Leo Burnett, will include a 60-second TV ad featuring a sound-track by Radiohead, as well as posters, direct mail and online.

The activity highlights the housing insecurity facing millions of families in the UK. More than 1.9m UK households are waiting for social housing this year and an estimated 75,000 face repossession.

The TV execution features an inner city landscape viewed from a moving train. Many of the houses in the landscape are flimsily constructed from playing cards and, as the journey progresses, some of them start to collapse.

Shelter works to alleviate the distress caused by homelessness and bad housing. It offers advice, information and advocacy to people in housing need and campaigns for lasting political change to end the housing crisis for good.
