Setanta to offer live football coverage over broadband

LONDON - Setanta Sports will offer its live Barclays Premier League coverage through broadband, and has confirmed terrestrial TV star Des Lynam as part of its presenting line-up.

Called Setanta By Broadband, the service offers fans live access to Setanta's sports coverage for £7.99 a month, in addition to a library of archived sports broadcasts.

The entire range of Setanta broadband coverage includes Setanta Sports 1, Setanta Sports 2 and Setanta Golf -- spanning 46 live Barclays Premier League games, the US PGA Tour, Rugby Union from the Magners League, and ATP Tennis.

Timothy Ryan, GB marketing director for Setanta Sports, claimed: "It is unprecedented sports broadcasting, opening up Setanta's huge range of top-notch sports coverage and taking it out of just the living room -- now it is in the garden, in your hotel room, at your desk and on the train."

Separately, Setanta Sports has signed Lynam, football expert James Richardson and former Sheffield United manager, Neil Warnock, to its presenting team for the coverage of Premier League games in the 2007/2008 season.

Richardson will present the 'Friday Football Show', which kicks off at 6.30pm on Friday August 10, while Lynam and Warnock will present and analyse live matches.

The 'Friday Football Show' will combine interviews with top managers and players alongside the latest football news.
