Scottish Rugby appoints Cravens for national and league teams work

LONDON – Scottish Rugby has hired Cravens to handle its advertising, direct marketing and digital work following a five-way pitch.

The deal starts from May and focuses on campaign work for the national team and Scotland's three Celtic League professional teams -- Border Reivers, Edinburgh Gunners and Glasgow Warriors.

The hire follows previous work by the agency for Scottish Rugby including projects for the U21 World Championship in 2004 and the 2005 Heineken Cup final, which was held in Murrayfield.

Jeremy Nickalls, Craven's account director of sports and leisure clients, said: "This season has a real resurgence in the performance of both the national team and the three pro teams.

"We are really excited about helping Scottish Rugby raise its game even further and translating this success into the number of fans actually watching professional rugby live."

Craven also works for English rugby union side Newcastle Falcons, as well as holding the accounts for Durham County Cricket Club and Premiership football team Newcastle United.

John Donnelly, Scottish Rugby's commercial and marketing director, said: "Cravens combined valuable sports marketing experience with a strategic and creative approach that is in tune with our business."
