Titled Make it in Great Britain, the show will run from 24 July to 9 September in the Museum’s Level 1 blank-canvas gallery.
The Make it in Great Britain campaign was launched by business secretary Vince Cable and business minister Mark Prisk with the backing of ‘captains of industry’ from world leading UK companies.
It aims to dispel the myth that Britain doesn’t make anything anymore and change perceptions amongst investors and young people.
A national competition has been launched to identify innovative pre-market products or initiatives to form part of next summer’s exhibition.
Science Museum head of commercial events Sam Owen said: "The Science Museum is honoured to host this celebration of the best of British at a time when the eyes of the world are on us.
"There could be no greater synergy between the objectives of this campaign and our iconic collections including some the greatest inventions to shape our modern world, so we are delighted that our blank-canvas event space could be utilised for this incredible new exhibition," he added.
