Sci Fi channel unveils campaign for Patricia Arquette psychic drama

LONDON - The Sci Fi channel has unveiled a six-figure marketing campaign designed to promote its forthcoming primetime series, 'Medium', featuring Hollywood star Patricia Arquette.

The campaign revolves primarily around multichannel television advertising for the show, which stars Patricia Arquette as Allison Dubois, a psychic who combines a hectic home life with her work for the Criminal Justice Department in Phoenix, Arizona.

In a first for the channel, the media plan also includes extensive online advertising, PR support and print advertising.

Eleanor McBrien, communications director at Sci Fi, said: "'Medium' has been a critical and ratings hit in the States and we're really excited to see how it performs in a prime-time slot on this side of the pond."

Sky One, Hallmark, Living and ITV, among other channels, will air the Sci Fi-produced and Rocket PHD-planned campaign, which will run in three bursts until early May.

The in-house produced campaign has been supported by broadcast specialist agency brothersandsisters, which provided come consultancy, while the online activity includes expandable banners with the potential to stream the TV ad on Yahoo!, Wanadoo, ITV.com, RadioTimes.com and Livingtv.co.uk, and moving picture units on MSN.co.uk.

Print support will be seen in Future's sci-fi title SFX magazine.

McBrien said: "New digital formats are opening up exciting ways of reaching our techno-savvy audience so it's no surprise we're looking at online to amplify our TV activity."

Sci Fi's 'Medium' campaign follows in the heels of the launch of the Sci Fi +1 channel.

The show will premiere on Sci Fi on Monday April 24 at 9pm.
