The best-paid marketing directors work for companies with more than 10,000 employees, where they can expect to take home about £98,000 a year, according to data collected by the Chartered Institute of Marketing and Croner Reward, which supplies remuneration statistics to the industry.

A marketer in this role is also likely to find that the top-salaried roles are in the South East, where the typical pay is £82,000, compared with London at £77,000. The lowest-paid positions at this level are in the Eastern Counties with an average wage of £60,060.
