S&N hands Kronenbourg CRM task to Story

LONDON - Scottish & Newcastle (S&N) has hired Story to handle the first customer relationship management campaign for its Kronenbourg lager.

The Edinburgh agency has been briefed to create and implement direct mail and online initiatives for the beer brand, whose range comprises Kronenbourg 1664, Premier Cru and Blanc. Story was hired following a three-way pitch; its first work is expected in September.

S&N supports its drinks brands in the UK through a range of sampling drives, including its £7m 'Biggest Round' activity, which it claims reached about 850,000 customers last year, and a 'Taste Tour'.

The brewer acquired the Kronenbourg brand from Danone for £1.7bn in 2000. The deal made S&N the second-biggest brewing group in Europe behind Heineken.

The brand's current TV ads, by M&C Saatchi, feature a man seeking somewhere to sit and relax with his Kronenbourg. They use the strapline 'Sit. Savour. 1664'.
