The official Royal Family Twitter account, launched a couple of weeks ago, better resembles a press release roll call rather than the common musings and announcements of one's breakfast contents better versed to Twitter's other 35m users.
Tweets rarely vary from proclamations of royal engagements, such as: 'On 14 Jul: The Duke of Kent - will attend a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace; or a daily reminder for keen tourists "On 13 Jul 11:00: Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace."
Interestingly, the British Monarchy has more than 9,000 followers, but follows only three: Andy Murray, someone called Paul Fright, and Prince Charles' climate group committee, the Copenhagen Communique.
A British Monarchy spokeswoman said the Twitter account was created to help spread news about the Royal Family, despite the fact that no members of the family would be tweeting personally.
The move to Twitter follows February's overhaul of the Royal.gov.uk website, and the 2007 launch of the Queen's YouTube channel.
