Royal British Legion debuts D-Day microsite

The site, has been created by The Gate and allows visitors to plant a virtual flag with an accompanying message on a Google map of the historic landing beaches. The online activity mirrors the real flag planting event, which takes place in Normandy on 6 June.

Once visitors have planted their virtual flag, they will receive a link by email that they can embed in their social networking profile. The email will also encourage them to make a donation to the charity.

The Royal British Legion is also running fundraising events in Portsmouth on 6 June, which will be supported by a local poster and radio campaign.
