Rough Guides creates destination guides for Vodafone App store

LONDON - Travel guide publisher Rough Guides is making some of its content available on mobiles via the Vodafone 360 Apps Shop.

The apps take the form of mini destination gudes, selling at 49p each. The guides have information on the best places to eat, drink and shop and also include an image gallery.

The range launches initially with 50 guides to download on the Vodafone 360 Samsung H1 handset. A further 150 destinations will be available in the autumn on the Vodafone 360 Samsung M1 and H1 handsets as well as a range of Nokia Symbian smartphones.

Tom Hall, head of digital licensing at Rough Guides, said: "This is an exciting opportunity to bring trusted Rough Guide content to mobile consumers via a brand new app store, and offer them exclusive applications on a wide range of destinations."

Rough Guides has previously made mobile versions of guides that was preloaded on seven million Motorola handsets sold throughout Europe. The Vodafone app was developed in conjunction with Mobile Commerce.
