Rim selects 7digital to provide PlayBook music service

Research in Motion (Rim), the Canadian owner of the BlackBerry mobile brand, has struck a deal with digital music store 7digital, which will provide the music service for the PlayBook tablet.

with 7digital Music Store preinstalled. Users can search and purchase tracks from its catalogue of over 13 million mp3s.

Prices of the tracks will match those already on 7digital and the revenue from sales will be shared between the two companies.

The 7digital music application on the PlayBook will be previewed later this week at the South by South West conference in Austin, Texas.
