The event, which is in its fourth year, is expected to attract 300 guests and aims to highlight the people and projects helping businesses to be more sustainable.

Past award winners have been companies set up to solve a specific sustainability problem, or those that have built sustainability into the fabric of their businesses, as well as organisations that are remaking the way they do business. They have included Marks and Spencer, B&Q and the National Trust Wales.

Ruth Kiveal, Guardian News and Media’s event executive, said: "RIBA Venues has excellent sustainability values and therefore fits nicely with the theme of the event and was a perfect choice as venue partner."

RIBA Venues has worked closely with Guardian News and Media to formulate a fully sustainable menu for the event using British produce.

Stephanie Ellrott, RIBA Venues’ head of venues, said: "The Guardian Sustainable Business Awards is a great event recognising the innovative projects companies have been using to make a real sustainable impact on society and we are excited to be working with the organisers for the second year."
