At the same time Laetitia Bouffard joins Rapp from AKQA where she was senior graphic designer. The agency has also appointed two new action scripters to its digital team.
"We're making quite a range of hires in the creative technology space to service recent purely digital wins as well as existing business," said Rik Haslam, executive creative director at Rapp UK.
He added: "When you're pitching against Razorfish, AKQA and LBi you need good quality digital people."
Late last year Rapp won the largely digital account of Eurostar. The agency has built websites for Eurostar, Pfizer and AIG.
French-born Connan has worked on clients including Sony, Mazda and Unilever. He has been freelancing since the start of this year, after four and half years at LBi.
"It was the sheer scope of Yannick's creative talent that impressed us," Haslam said. "Even talented designers have a particular approach but Yannick's portfolio had a vast range. Individual items looked as if they had come from different designers."
Rapp is building its digital reputation within Omnicom. "Sally Williams, the European business development director at DAS [Omnicom's Diversified Agency Services division], recently singled out Rapp as one of Omniom's hot digital agencies, which I was flattered by," Haslam said.
