'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' will return to the airwaves on September 21 and is being backed by a dedicated microsite.
Part of the site will include an online adaptation of the 'Hitchhiker Adventure Game' to mark its 20th anniversary.
The original text game was released in 1984 and sold 350,000 copies in the days before high-powered graphics ruled computer games. In it, the player took on the role of the book's hero, Arthur Dent, and played the game by typing in commands such as "get electronic sub-ether signalling device", collecting more than 40 items and visiting 30 locations.
It was described by 'Hitchhiker's Guide' author, the late Douglas Adams, as being "the first game to move beyond being 'user friendly'; it's actually 'user insulting' and because it lies to you as well it's also 'user mendacious'."
The 'Hitchhiker's Guide' website also features transmission times and gives listeners the chance to hear episodes they have missed; information on the cast; and a message board for fans of the series.
The new radio series, which features a number of the original cast as well as Adams, who recorded the role of Agrajag before he died in 2001, will run for six weeks starting Tuesday September 21.
A 'Hitchhiker's' movie is also in production and due out next year, with Martin Freeman from 'The Office' taking on the role of Arthur Dent and rapper Mos Def playing Ford Prefect.
