Parker, who is taking up the association director position following a short career break, previously worked for Earls Court & Olympia (EC&O) as group halls director for more than two years. Prior to that, she worked in various roles at Earls Court from 1994, including event manager, senior event manager and halls director.
"I am truly excited to be returning to the event industry in such an interesting role," she said. "As the former halls director at EC&O, I have a good sense of what issues the industry faces and am looking forward to re-acquainting myself with all members to ensure the AEV continues to offer a trusted and valued service to its members."
Nigel Nathan, chair of the AEV, added: "Rachel is both capable and experienced, her appointment as association director for the AEV brings with it considerable ability and experience. I am looking forward to working with Rachel in my role as chair of the AEV and as group managing director of Earls Court and Olympia - London."
The appointment is the third made by the group of associations – consisting of the AEO, AEV and the Event Supplier and Services Association – including Skeith’s hire, as well as Andrew Harrison, who was appointed ESSA director within the past month.
