Quality motoring magazine targets Scottish readers

LONDON – Motoring enthusiasts and the automotive industry in Scotland, worth an estimated £7bn a year, will soon have their own title called TheCarMag.

Published by McMedia Scotland, the magazine will focus on consumer motoring, motorsport and Scottish and global automotive news.

The glossy monthly will run to 100 pages and be edited by Dundee-based motoring journalist Jim McGill. McGill said he felt there was a need for a Scottish voice in car journalism alongside the numerous British publications.

Columnists will include Le Mans 24-hours winner and Formula One driver Allan McNish, double British touring car champion and Jaguar/Volvo dealer John Cleland, and BTCC leader Anthony Reid from Glasgow.

TheCarMag will have a cover price of £2.95 and will be sold in John Menzies newsagents across Scotland.

The magazine will compete with the likes of Haymarket's What Car?, Dennis's new Test Drive Monthly and the BBC's Top Gear.

Scotland's automotive industry has an annual turnover of £7bn, according to the Scottish Motor Trade Association.
