Promo Review - Persil 100th anniversary promotion

The Bailey Group's managing director Julia Collis reviews the latest on-pack promotion from Persil offering two-for-one tickets to family attractions as part of its 100th anniversary campaign.

Persil: 100th anniversary promotion
Persil: 100th anniversary promotion

comes with a simple, easy mechanic that does what it says on the box, bottle or carton, and whichever variant floats your biological or non-biological boat.  It is easy to understand and in the current 'crunch' presents a compelling offer.

Firstly I would like to congratulate Billington Cartmell on producing a 'grown up' campaign, which is appealing and without patronizing the customer.  The bottles/packs are well designed, attractive, and easy to understand and have great shelf standout, stimulating curiosity and subsequent investigation.

Once purchased, the promotion is easy to activate - simply cut off a coupon and present it at the entrance to one of the UK's top attractions and claim a free ticket.

How refreshing to avoid weeks of carefully cutting out coupons and buying products you don't really need just to 'get a bargain'. Then once you've collected enough finding that after the cost of buying the products you would have been better off simply buying the ticket.  Or is that just me becoming cynical in my old age?

Using the 100th anniversary to reward customers is also a nice touch, reminding us of the brand's provenance and reliability when new brands and own labels come and go.

My only criticism is what about us single person households? Why don't brands think about rewarding us too?  With single people households now accounting for 29% of all households and set to rise to 38% by 2026*, AND couple's households without children at 28.7% don't we deserve a reward for all of our loyal custom too? I’d suggest entrance to 'grown up' events such as the Proms, concerts and festivals or even local theatres.

If I could make one personal recommendation, it would be to reward me with a voucher to redeem at participating outlets for a tanned Adonis to do my laundry and ironing for a month whilst I watch, and if he could peel me grapes and pour chilled Dom Perignon preferably from the White Gold Jeroboam vintage, so much the better!
