Premier League pair sign up to Bluepod units in stadiums

LONDON - Bluepod Media has signed up Premier League football clubs Derby County and Tottenham Hotspur to install its Bluetooth units in stadiums.

These two clubs join Birmingham, West Ham, Blackburn, Portsmouth, Wigan,  Wolves and Celtic in using Bluetooth to target football fans on matchdays.

Each club has signed up to install around 15 Bluepod units, which can send club news, sponsors and ads to fans' mobile phones.

Fans opt in to receiving free ads and club profiles, fixtures, news and manager notes, with ads paid for by advertisers at a pay-per-download rate of between 40p and 70p.

In a recent trial at Portsmouth Football Club, 6,245 fans opted in to download a movie trailer from a total crowd of 20,200. The total attendance at Premier League games last season was 12.9 million.
