Uber Live saw eight gigs take place at secret locations across London, Dublin, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and Newcastle. Three events were held in London at the One Red Eye photography studio in Peckham, Shoreditch Town Hall and Notting Hill's community theatre The Tabbernacle.

Bands and artistes who signed up to perform ranged from folk duo Twin Headed Wolf and hip-hop group Too Many T's to Fyfe Dangerfield of Guillemots and John Lewis advert fame. Altogether, 24 acts played as part of the event.

To gain entry, Uber users were asked to enter a code into their app before 5pm yesterday. Those who were successful could call a special Uber Live service for free, which would whisk them and a friend off to their nearest secret destination.

Each session held approximately 200 guests.

Jo Bertram, regional general manager of Uber UK and Ireland, said: "Uber has always been about connecting people - whether that's riders to drivers on the platform or people across the city.

"With Uber Live, we were able to use our technology to give our riders a new experience, helping them discover new neighbourhoods, venues and music in their city."
