An event to mark this use of the station place took place earlier this week (30 April), and was organised by Transport for London and Appear Here, the online marketplace for short-term space.
Appear Here and TfL joined forces to transform the station into a retail, creative and experimental hub, with shopping, workshops and interactive activities. With more than 23 million prospective customers passing through the station each year, it has been earmarked as one of London's hottest retail locations.
Appear Here’s ambition is to enable anyone with a creative or innovative idea to showcase them before a large audience at the station.
Ross Bailey, founder and chief executive of Appear Here, said:"We’re excited to have Old Street Underground join our growing collection of great destinations on the Appear Here marketplace. It’s a step forward in our mission to help people share their ideas in front of the right audience, in amazing spaces, anywhere."
Starting off the project are the disruptive optical brand Bailey Nelson and marketing guru Driftrock, as well as electric bike innovators Fully Charged and computer programming bootcamp Makers Academy.
