Guests in attendance included representatives from the financial, television and legal sectors, as well as members of the press. They were given the chance to explore the new venue and enjoy a performance from an The Jasmine Hill Band, while being treated to the full VIP backstage experience.

In-house caterer Levy Restaurants provided Champagne on arrival before serving up canapés including miniature steak and chips, fishcakes and arancini rice balls. A selection of bespoke and classic cocktails were concocted in the venue’s central bar.

Rebecca Kane, general manager at The O2, said:  "We’re thrilled to be able to offer VIPs an experience like no other in The American Express Invites Lounge. We wanted to create a desirable space that could give guests a truly unique and exclusive experience to compliment the calibre of entertainment available at The O2.

"Now guests will not only get the best seats in the house, but the privilege and glamour of the full backstage experience, creating an unforgettable night out for all VIPs."

The lounge was designed by Brighton-based interior design firm Platform Group and cost £2.6m to refurbish. It features multi-level seating areas, private dining suites and décor inspired by The O2’s iconic musical performances.
