Representatives from the BBC, HSBC and Unilever attended, to celebrate the venue's recently completed £600,000 refurbishment.
The event had a ‘night of illusions’ theme, including a sensory tunnel on the venue’s mezzanine area, which aimed to stimulate attendees’ five senses. Guests made their way to the lower river room for a sparkling drinks reception and canapés, provided by on-site caterer Create Food and Party Design.
Hot mini plates and bowl food was also served, as well as crab salad - with fresh crabs being cracked in front of guests - and a savoury pick ‘n’ mix station.
Attendees were accompanied by flautist Samantha Pearce to the upper river room, where a cappella group The Magnets gave a flash-mob performance.
Alicia Duncan, general manager at The Mermaid, said: "With the refurbishments of the river rooms recently completed, we wanted our clientele to enjoy not only the fantastic views of the Thames that the spaces provide, but also to get a first-hand look at the new spaces and experience all that they have to offer."
