The Mermaid strengthens team following restructure

The Mermaid Conference and Events Centre has appointed five members of staff following a restructure of its conference and events department.

Maria Cena, previously senior sales manager at the venue, has been promoted to commercial manager. As part of her remit, she will take charge of the company’s sales and marketing strategy to maximise on all revenue opportunities.

Iain Moffat, who joins The Mermaid as operations manager, previously worked in the same role at IET Savoy Place. He has been tasked to improve conference and events operations, as well as function catering. 

Other appointments include Jade Harrison, previously sales executive at the Science Museum, who joins The Mermaid as business development executive. Sales executive Sophie Duboisset and AV technician Pawan Shastri have also recently been hired by the business.

Alicia Duncan, general manager of The Mermaid, said: "I’m very pleased to welcome the new team members and their various fields of expertise as we move into 2014. This is a very exciting time for The Mermaid, as the restructure has been brought about to strengthen our position in the market place."
