In pictures: Man vs. Food star takes on Pancake Day

Adam Richman, star of Food Network TV programme Man vs. Food Nation, took part in a charity pancake day race in London's Borough Market yesterday (4 March).

The event was organised by business improvement district Better Bankside and Borough Market to help raise funds on behalf of Paintings in Hospitals, which lends original works of art to hospitals, hospices and other healthcare facilities throughout the UK.

Richman was joined by Food Network chef Andy Bates, who took part in the pancake flipping contest. More than 500 visitors turned out to watch the annual pancake flipping relay race, and 80 racers took part within 20 teams, double the amount that attended last year’s event.

On the day, Borough Market’s traders offered a variety of pancakes, from classic lemon and sugar to modern-day savoury twists.

Suppliers to the event included Speedy Hire, which provided barriers; Harrogate-born singer and songwriter Lewis Fieldhouse; and a number of food suppliers including Soul Food, Khanhom Krok, Baxters, Turnips, as well as all of Borough Market's traders.
