The free festival, which has been produced by Artichoke with support from the Mayor of London, spans key central London locations such as Leicester Square, Piccadilly, Carnaby, Oxford Circus and King’s Cross.
Leicester Square is currently playing host to The Garden of Light installation by French artists Tilt, which includes brightly lit, oversized flowers and plants, meanwhile Porté Par Le Vent's Luminéoles sees oversized carp floating overhead at nearby Piccadilly.
Members of the public can also head to Bafta 195 Piccadilly, where its façade is lit up with a technicolour artwork featuring British film and television stars, as well as directors.
Elsewhere, the Carnaby retail district features a monolith piece known as Shaida Walking, Oxford Circus is housing an aerial sculpture made of knotted twine, and oversized human scupltures by French artist Cedric Le Borgne can be spotted at Jermyn Street. .
During a pre-unveiling event at W London Hotel last night (14 January), it was said that the light festival is a way of attracting people to London on what is believed to be the dreariest weekend of the year.
One million people are expected to experience the festival, which runs every night from 6.30pm to 10.30pm each evening until Sunday (17 January).
