Pest control company Rentokil celebrated its work yesterday (21 August) with the opening of a pop-up 'Pestaurant' at One New Change, London.

The activation, which took place between 11am and 3pm encouraged Londoners to try something different on their lunch break. Plain roasted locusts, Mexican spice mealworms, pigeon burgers and scorpion lollipops were all on the menu, while a limited number of early bird breakfast pies featuring bamboo worms were created by Great British Bake Off contestant Ruth Clemens.

Guests were encouraged to vote for their favourite insect snack and Rentokil representatives were on-hand to discuss pest control with visitors. The event was designed in partnership with agency Brands2Life.

David Cross, head of technical training academy at Rentokil, said the activation was designed to be celebratory. He told Event: "Rentokil has been working in the UK for 85 years now, and the Pestaurant is a great bit of PR to celebrate that.

"We’ve been running these events all over the globe in Washington DC, Cape Town, Sydney, Dubai and Paris, and the reactions from guests have been the same everywhere. We’ve had a very positive response."
