The VIP evening, which kicked off this year’s two-day London Summer Event Show, organised by agency Story Events, saw guests treated to a first look at the 46 exhibitors showcasing their summer events offerings at London’s One Marylebone. This included 175 venues, as well as event production and creative agencies, caterers and theming and prop specialists.
Guests were treated to a range of summer-themed drinks from Camm & Hooper, including botanical juices and rum punches served in glass Kilner-style bottles. Event design and construction specialist Full Circle carried on the summer theme with a garden shed installation, and Wow Grass dressed various parts of the venue with its real grass product.
A range of summer-inspired canapés and bowl food were served throughout the evening including fish and chips in newspaper-style cones and shepherd’s pie.
Entertainment came in the form of a DJ from Kensington Roof Gardens, a dance troupe who performed a routine with inflatable beach balls, a retro singer who sang a variety of modern-day songs, and Shuttlecock Inc, which provided characters to interact with guests throughout the venue.
The night ended with Sam Gill, chief executive of Story Events, revealing the winners of a raffle, featuring eight prizes donated by industry partners. To sum up the night’s events, an improvising poet created a poem to encapsulate what happened on the night.
