The three-day event, which took place between 10 and 12 January, was spread across Wood Wharf, Montgomery Square and Canary Wharf Shopping Malls. At two sites, more than 3,000 took part in ice sculpting masterclasses, which members of the public could sign up for on the day and begin to shape a small block of ice into a polar bear in 20-minute sessions.
The festival’s main highlight was a series of competitions, which saw two-man international ice sculpting teams compete against one another. Spain picked up the winning title in the single block category, which had a river life theme, and USA contestant Buddy Rasmussen was crowned the winner in the freestyle competition as voted for by his peers.
In the big block category, which featured two-metre high blocks of ice, judges crowned team Africa the winners for their fabulous fashion-themed creation, while the UK participants won the public choice award.
Philip Hughes, creative director and founder of The Ice Box, organisers of LISF, said: "The London Ice Sculpting Festival was another great success. We overcame challenges of sunshine and attendance exceeded all expectations. Visitors from far and wide highly praised the event for its fantastic festival atmosphere and we have received great feedback on social media."
