On Wednesday (18 June) the US airline invited members of the public to pick up a tennis racket and take part in the ‘Speed Serve Challenge’, in which participants could pick up tips from Williams before trying to get as close to her personal best serving speed of 128mph.

Lucky winners of the challenge were then rewarded with return Delta airline tickets to the US.

Perry Cantarutti, Delta’s senior vice president EMEA, said: "We’re delighted to welcome Serena back to London and the interest we’ve had at the Delta Challenge today reflects her continued popularity.

"Today’s event is all about serving which takes skill, precision and energy. Delta is also all about serving with our core value to put customer service at the forefront of everything we do."
