The pop-up resembled the grassy top deck of the cruise line company’s ships. The concept sought to shine the spotlight on Celebrity Cruises' wine collection, which includes varietals from the US, France and New Zealand.

Guests were served a chilled glass of Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut Champagne on arrival and encouraged to take part in a series of lawn games.

Wine writer and television presenter Oz Clarke then delivered a wine tasting master class comprising of three varietals, each of which was paired with a British cheese.

Michael English, head of business development at Celebrity Cruises, said: "Celebrity Cruises is proud to boast one of the largest and rarest wine collections at sea, which is why festivals such as London Wine Week are such a perfect fit for us.

"With more than 500 wines, 22 sommeliers and one cellar master on-board each ship, we’re passionate about our wine offering and wanted to bring a taste of this through our Lawn Club pop-up at this year’s event."

Clarke added: "It has been an incredible kick off night for Celebrity Cruises’ two-day Lawn Club at this year’s London Wine Week.  Our main aim is to provide food- and wine-loving Londoners with an insight into the rare and extensive wine offering on-board Celebrity’s ships while enabling them to brush up on their understanding of wine.

"These masterclasses are a fantastic opportunity for Londoners to taste some really unique wines within a beautiful Lawn Club setting, transporting them to the top deck of Celebrity’s award-winning fleet. "

The event forms part of Celebrity Cruises Taster Season initiative, which will feature at a series of upcoming events summer events.

The next session will take place at Taste of London from 17-21 June, where there will be a focus on the company’s food offering.
