The ‘manithon’ took place between 10am and 7.30pm in Soho Square, London. More than 20 manicure stations were set up by Birchbox in partnership with nail polish brand Models Own, providing approximately 500 express manicures to the public.

Guests to the event were charged £5 for a treatment. All cash raised has been donated to Coppafeel, which aims to eradicate the late detection and misdiagnosis of breast cancer.

Popcorn-maker Propercorn and coconut water brand Vita Coco provided snacks and drinks to those getting pampered.

Presenter Sarah-Jane Crawford from ITV 2’s The Xtra Factor was the event's celebrity ambassador. She made an appearance wearing a limited edition t-shirt designed for Coppafeel and sold on Birchbox by fashion illustrator Sally Faye Cotterill.

Crawford said: "Birchbox has created the Manithon event to generate both knowledge and valuable donations for breast cancer awareness charity CoppaFeel. I’m a massive beauty fan and combining beauty and fundraising is a genius idea."
