Peugeot set to review £240m European media account

LONDON - PSA, the umbrella company for car marques Peugeot and Citroen, is set to review its £240m European media account after sounding out agencies on prices on a territory-by-territory basis.

Several networks, including incumbents OMD, Media Planning Group and Vizeum, have been approached to provide pricing details across the PSA account.

The car manufacturer reviewed its business across Europe only last summer, appointing OMD to its business in the company's home territory France, and retaining the agency in the UK, Switzerland, Denmark, Switzerland and Russia.

PSA also appointed 2MV, a joint venture between Havas agency Media Planning Group and WPP Group pooled buying operation Group M, in Spain and Germany, and Aegis Group agency Vizeum in Italy.

Although not currently believed to be part of the review, the process may eventually include the £76m UK media account for PSA, held by OMD, according to agency sources.

Havas's creative network Euro RSCG Worldwide holds the Peugeot and Citroen accounts, while its direct marketing concern EHS Brann holds the below-the-line business.

Earlier this month, Havas acquired advertising agency Scher Lafarge, following speculation that the smaller creative agency was primed to snatch its key French PSA Peugeot Citroen account.

Media Planning Group currently holds the pan-European account for Citroen, although this does not affect local territory work.
